“BODIES REFRACTED”

Stained glass has been used to tell stories for centuries. Stories of faith, desire, and devotion. In this collection the form remains, but the subject of worship has shifted. Put on display are the bodies and identities once condemned by the very institution that first claimed this medium as its own. Captured in glass are moments of queer desire: fleeting, yet unmistakable.

BODIES REFRACTED started with a feeling. The experience of queer coded desire in the moment before you’re sure it’s real. Did he look at me? Was that intentional?  That glimpse of skin you weren’t supposed to catch. Small, intimate, almost subversive moments. Each piece is a vignette, zoomed in close enough that you’re left questioning what you saw.
